Our Story
I was (almost) a straight A student. But after I graduated, that didn’t help me when I had to start budgeting, meal planning, remembering to get my oil changed and getting my own insurance for the first time. “WHY didn’t they teach me anything about THIS in school?” was a thought I had so many times during my first year of living as an independent “grown up”. Whether it was doing my taxes, figuring out how often to go to the dentist (and who was going to pay for it), or even something as simple and constant as doing my own laundry, I felt totally unprepared. I would constantly need to call home and ask, “how do I….” do pretty much anything. I didn’t feel capable of managing the day-to-day tasks required to “adult” successfully.
And I wasn’t alone. So many other people my age felt like they had graduated without being properly prepared for life on their own. Being a good student was great, but there was a LOT that our formal educations left out. And so, the concept for “Intro to Adulthood” was born. A comprehensive program designed to introduce young people to the basic, practical life skills they will need to successfully navigate independent adulthood.
This course is NOT filled with vague platitudes. It breaks down over 20 topics you will definitely encounter as an adult and explains the basics. Our goal is that when you complete our course, you will feel prepared to tackle independent adulthood with confidence. You will feel capable of assessing a variety of situations and make informed decisions about how to handle them. While nothing can prepare you for every scenario you’ll encounter, we can promise that Intro to Adulthood will provide you with a solid foundation of practical skills and knowledge to build upon as you navigate adulthood.
